Ocean College to boost enhanced collaborations with UWA

Professor Shaun Collin, Director of the Oceans Institute, UWA, paid a visit to Ocean College on October,9th . It is the director`s second time visiting to Ocean College in 2013 and also a visit to reciprocate delegations` visit to UWA in late September.
Professor CHEN Ying, Dean of Ocean College welcomes Shaun and briefs him on the updates of newly-born Ocean College including research institutes, departments and the scale of current students.
Shaun expresses “impressive” to see how Ocean College is growing and “is very much keen to visit new campus at Zhoushan City if possible for next visit”.
Both sides then discussed the pathways for detailed collaborations. The two parties set out a blueprint for OC-OI Joint Institute (research center) to advance scientific cooperation between two institutes in the field of marine science and coastal study.
The two parties also agreed on a joint workshop to build a platform for scientists from both sides. The first round of workshop is supposed to be held in Perth in November.
CHEN proposed “3+X ”articulation programs to Shaun for students exchange and co-supervision. Shaun welcomes the idea of this articulation programs and he believes it “most possible” for a co-supervised program between the two institutes since UWA provides a variety of choice for master degree training programs. Both sides signed a Letter of Intent in seeking a further relations by developing a program of articulation.
Prior to the meeting with CHEN, Prof. Shaun gave a talk to faculty members and students about the scientific research UWA has been engaging with.
