Application of Ocean Satellite Remote Sensing in Various Fields of Oceanography ---lecture by Dr. Xiao-Feng LI

March 21, 2011, Dr Xiao-Feng Li, senior research scientist from U.S. National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS), U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), delivered a lecture Application of Ocean Satellite Remote Sensing in Various Fields of Oceanography to DOSE students and faculty members. Dr. Li introduced the organization of NESDIS, post graduate education in U.S. and the latest research and application of ocean satellite remote sensing in ocean circulation, climate change and sea-level rise, etc. He also chatted with students and faculty members of the department and visited the Ocean Equipment Experiment Laboratory.
 
Dr Xiao-Feng LI is a senior research scientist of U.S. National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS), U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). His research interests include Satellite Remote Sensing in Oceanography, Natural Disaster and Coastal Zone Management. He has published over 70 papers in SCI and EI journals. In 2002, several achievements of his research were introduced in Nature. Dr. LI is a member of American Geophysical Union (AGU), American Meteorological Society (AMS), Geo-science and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He is also a director of Chinese-American Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (COAA).
