General introduction

Based on the advanced international level testing facilities in groups and the national engineering laboratory of ocean engineering equipments, the Institute of Marine Structures and Naval Architectures aims at solving problems in environment adaption, safety reliability, economy and performability arising from marine structures and equipment system engineering. The key research work of the institute contains design and construction of naval architectures and ocean structures, interaction between marine structures and geotechnical engineering, computational hydraulics, computational structural mechanics, as well as composite material of ocean engineering equipments.

The institute boasts high caliber faculty working in many professions such as naval architectures, ocean engineering, underwater robots, intelligent manufactures, and fluid mechanics. We have not only the highly respected and senior professors, but also the creative young academic leaders who are actively engaged in the academic frontiers. By the end of 2020, the institute has a total of 11 staff members, including 4 professors and 7 associate professors.

Over the years, the institute has been undertaking many important research programs of the country, such as 973 projects, 863 projects, national natural science foundation projects, and so on. Besides, the institute also carries on a lot of cooperative projects with enterprises. The researchers involved in these programs have published over 10 SCI papers and over 20 China patents.

With respect to talent training, the institute aims to cultivate a large number of qualified graduates for engineering design, engineering consulting and green manufacturing in the field of marine structures and naval architectures. By working closely with overseas prestigious universities and marine industries, we provide students with various opportunities of studying abroad, engineering practice and academic research.
