Maneuvering pond with a rotating arm is alarge scale facility for testing, student practicing and scientific research in oceanengineering, naval architecture, oceantechnology, and other areas. It is designed for various vehicles maneuvering motion captive model tests.It is used to measure hydrodynamic forces acting on the vehicle and hence to predict various vehicles’ maneuverability.

The pondis 45 meters in diameter and 6 meters in water depth, and the length of rotating arm is 24.5m. It is mainly composed of central island, rotary arm and track, towing motor, automatic trailer and turntable, six side force balance, dock and control survey system. The rotating angular velocity ranges from 0.02 to 1.00rad/s, and the maximum test model length is 4m.
