The port, waterway and offshore engineering discipline involves the construction and operation of port waterway terminals, the interaction of ocean dynamic processes and their sea-related engineering buildings, coastal zone environment and disaster prevention and mitigation, marine ecological environment and numerical simulation, and marine renewable energy. It also involves the construction of China's modern port and coastal security system. It fulfills and national strategic needs of offshore resources utilization and ocean engineering by studying on new technologies, new methods and new theories related to research, development, design and implementation of port coastal and offshore engineering. It contributes to the development of China's modern ports, the sustainable development of coastal zones, the development and utilization of the competitiveness of marine resources, and the development of related industries, thus building a maritime power and stimulating the national economy.
