The international students of Zhejiang University Ocean College held their end of the year on the 21st of December, 2018.  The event was held at the coffee shop located at the ground floor of Ocean College library complex, Zhoushan Campus.  In attendant were the teachers and students of the Ocean College as well as students from Zhejiang Ocean University and friends from Zhoushan Community.  Notable among the staff were Mr Zhu, Ms Clover and Ms Tu of the International College.  Chinese classmates also attended the event en masse.

At about 5:30pm, students from each of the countries had already displayed their country’ culinary culture.  The venue was well decorated with brightly coloured balloons and beautiful lighting system signifying a brighter new year. Visitors and guest started trooping into the venue and were seen exchanging pleasantries.  The arriving guests were welcomed by Farah and Mona then received with a cool background music by Martins who served as the DJ in the event.  At exactly 6pm, the party started.

As event hosts, Sam/Maria greeted the guests, made a brief introduction of the dignitaries and handed over to the President of the student association (Opeyemi) and the planning committee chairman, (Agha) respectively to give their welcome address. Ms Clover, a representative of the International College also gave a brief address. After the photo session with New Year cake, the participants were treated to a dinner with 26 different sumptuous intercontinental dishes from 19 countries.  According to one of the participants, “The party was fantastic, well decorated, very great turn out in terms of attendants.  I saw everyone enjoyed the food which were very delicious. The drinks were sufficient enough for everyone”

It is worth noting that over 100 guests attended the party and witnessed presentations from famous singing artists like Farhan, Elna, Thura and Dimas.  There were some fun games to entertain the guests.  A macarena group dance by the international student led by Yuvna was also featured which later ushered all the guests to the dance floor.  Highlight of the event was the award of gift to deserving students as well as all guest at the party. After vote of thanks by the international student executive, the party ended at about 9pm and everyone departed with an awesome experience that would never be forgotten in a hurry.
