Date: 2019-11-29

Time: 9:00-10:00

Venue:Room 414, Ocean Engineering Building, Zhoushan Campus

Speaker: Dr. Chuangzhou Wu from Kangwon National University, Republic of Korea

Category: Lecture

Dr Chuangzhou Wu is a senior researcher at Department of Geophysics, Kangwon National University, Republic of Korea. He received his PhD from Tongji University. He worked at Center for Usable Space, Nanyang Technological Univeristy, Singapore on project “Biogrouting for underground construction - a new technology to maximize the usage of underground space in Singapore” from 2016-2019 with Prof Jian Chu. His main area of expertise includes creep model of anisotropic rocks, back analysis of seepage-stress coupling, biogrouting for rock fracture and plasma blasting.

In his talk he is going to show new developments of fracture sealing using Microbially Induced Carbonate Precipitation (MICP) and geomaterials fracturing by plasma blasting technology. Details will be shared about sealing mechanism of rock fracture using MICP and the resulted permeability reduction and the mechanism of fracturing in rock and unsaturated soil using plasma blasting.
