On January 22nd, twenty undergraduate students from ZJU-OC participated in a valuable academic course program, which aimed to broaden their understanding of Singapore's culture and geography, improve their proficiency in spoken English, and acquire comprehensive knowledge regarding offshore platforms and green shipping.

In the course, Professor Tan offered a thorough overview of Singapore's national identity, enlightening students on its concise historical narrative, cultural essence, and societal context. Following this, the students delved into marine expertise through courses led by three additional professors, fostering international perspectives and enhancing cross-cultural communication skills.

The session on offshore platform knowledge provided students with a comprehensive understanding of the offshore platform's structure, function, and working principles. By integrating theoretical learning with field visits, students were able to gain an intuitive understanding of offshore platform operations, establishing a solid foundation for future ocean engineering studies. Additionally, through a series of presentation skills training, students were able to identify potential challenges in effectively communicating their ideas, thereby enhancing their proficiency in public communication with foreigners.

During their visit to NTU, the students expressed their admiration for the modern facilities of the globally recognized institution. Furthermore, their excursions to the Bay Area provided them with an opportunity to appreciate Singapore's distinctive allure as a global shipping hub, where they were able to marvel at the bay's prosperity and state-of-the-art port infrastructure.

As a culminating activity, the students engaged in group collaboration to share their perspectives. This team-based exercise not only honed their teamwork abilities but also deepened their comprehension and enthusiasm for the ocean.
