MEI Deqing led a delegation to visit Canadian and American Universities and Marine Research Institutions
From November 3rd to 7th, Mei Deqing, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ocean College of Zhejiang University, led a delegation to visit Canada and the United States. They held exchange activities among young scholars with local first-class universities and research institutions to promote international cooperation in education, science and technology, and talent.
On November 4th, the delegation visited the University of British Columbia. Mei Deqing held talks with Professor Curtis Suttle, a member of the Royal Society of Canada and Deputy Director of Science at the University of British Columbia, and Professor Susan Allen, also Deputy Director of Science. Mei Deqing provided an overview of the latest advancements within the Ocean College, and listened to the latest research progress in marine disciplines. The two sides discussed potential collaborations concerning student training programs, joint scientific research. They expressed their willingness to actively promote personnel exchanges, strengthen cooperation between advantageous disciplines in marine field.
On November 5th, 6th and 7th, the delegation respectively organized international young scholars exchange meetings at the University of British Columbia, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. They also invited them to participate in the Third Zhejiang University Qizhen Young Scholars Forum - East China Sea Young Scholars Forum to further promote exchanges and cooperation among young scholars.
Relevant heads from the Department of Marine Sciences, Ocean Engineering, Marine Informatics, and the Maritime Logistics & Free Trade Island Research Center accompanied the visit.
