On November 20th, the University Cultural Construction Committee announced the results of the Most Beautiful Laboratories at Zhejiang University. The Laboratory of Marine Microbial Resources and Genomics in the Ocean College was successful in being selected.

The Laboratory of Marine Microbial Resources and Genomics in the Ocean College mainly conducts research on the exploration of deep-sea microbial resources and the genetic evolution mechanism. The laboratory has made various rules such as safety training, daily cleaning duties, and equipment management, which have improved the convenience and safety of experimental operations. In recent years, the laboratory has undertaken several national scientific research projects, including the National Key R & D Program and the National Natural Science Foundation of China for Excellent Young Scientists. Their research findings have been published in multiple international journals like NCB, PNAS and NAR.

Professor Zheng Daoqiong, the head of the laboratory, said that winning the title of the Most Beautiful Laboratory this is a great encourage for every member of the team who has participated in the laboratory construction. He said “In the future, we will continuously improve the management of the lab and make more novel scientific findings in marine microbiology.“
