At noon on November 18, the library of ZJU Ocean College held an academic paper writing experience sharing session at the Zhoushan Campus. Doctoral students Cuicui Feng (Marine Science) and Bingbing Zhang (Ocean Engineering Technology) were invited as guest speakers to share their experiences in academic writing, aiming to support students in successfully advancing their graduation projects and improving the quality of their theses.

Cuicui Feng has published a first-author paper in Nature Communications, while Bingbing Zhang is the first author of an ESI Highly Cited Paper. Both speakers possess strong research backgrounds and extensive practical experience. During the session, they shared their academic journeys from a peer perspective and explained professional techniques in a clear and accessible way.

Feng focused on the full process of paper submission and the practical use of reference management tools, breaking down key steps such as journal selection and cover letter writing, and demonstrating the use of literature management software. Zhang concentrated on literature review writing and refining research proposals, explaining writing logic and optimization strategies, and sharing techniques for extracting key information from literature and clarifying research directions to support thesis proposal preparation.

Students actively participated in the Q&A session, engaging in lively discussions on topics such as research topic selection, literature review methods, and submission details.

The event was part of the library’s initiative to address students’ core needs, enhance information literacy services, and build a peer-support platform. It aims to carry forward the academic culture of mentorship and mutual support while creating an efficient communication platform for students’ academic development. The library will continue to organize targeted and practical peer exchange activities to support students in making steady progress on their research journeys.
