Professor Ronghua ZHU of ZJU Ocean College Honored as “Distinguished International Associate” by the Royal Academy of Engineering

Recently, Professor Ronghua ZHU of ZJU Ocean College was awarded the honorary title of Distinguished International Associate by the Royal Academy of Engineering for his pioneering contributions in offshore wind power engineering technology.

The Royal Academy of Engineering stands as one of the most authoritative and influential academic institutions in the global engineering and technology community. Its Distinguished International Associates honor recognizes leading figures worldwide who have made extraordinary contributions to engineering science, practice, and education, with approximately 10 individuals globally receiving this distinction annually.

Professor Ronghua ZHU specializes in integrated planning for offshore wind farms, structural dynamics of integrated offshore wind turbines, and construction equipment and solutions for marine engineering. His research achievements have earned him numerous accolades, including the 1st place in the New Energy category of the Ministry of Science and Technology's China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the 1st Prize in the Ministry of Education's Science and Technology Progress Award, the 1st Prize in Zhejiang Province's Science and Technology Progress Award, the 1st Prize in the Marine Engineering Science and Technology Award, and the 1st Prize in the China Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology Industrialization's Science and Technology Award. To date, he holds over 200 authorized patents and has published more than 100 academic papers.

Professor Ronghua ZHU stated that this honor will serve as a new starting point to further build bridges and platforms, deepening strategic cooperation with the UK's top engineering and academic circles. He plans to select outstanding doctoral students and young scholars from Zhejiang University and its partner laboratories to conduct exchange visits and joint training at the Royal Academy of Engineering and related renowned universities and research institutions in the UK, jointly cultivating the next generation of leading talents for global sustainable engineering solutions.
