On 16 December, the 2025 Zhejiang Provincial 'Spirit of Scientists' Promotion Event, themed 'Promoting Kuo SHEN's Scientific Spirit and Advancing the Construction of an Innovative Zhejiang', was held at the World Internet Science and Technology Museum in Wuzhen. The presentation team from ZJU Ocean College delivered a live presentation entitled 'Carrying Forward Kuo SHEN's Scientific Spirit: Pursuing the Dream of a Deep-Blue Maritime Power', and was awarded the Bronze Prize. This marks the first time ZJU Ocean College's publicity team has participated in a provincial-level 'Spirit of Scientists' publicity and exhibition event and achieved such an outstanding result.

The Zhejiang Provincial 'Spirit of Scientists' Publicity and Exhibition Event is guided by the Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology and organised by the Zhejiang Science Popularisation Federation and the Zhejiang University Science and Technology Association Consortium, among others. It aims to guide the province's science and technology workers and young students to consciously inherit the scientific and cultural heritage represented by Kuo SHEN, and to further study and promote the spirit of scientists in the new era. The event was open to science and technology workers, science popularisation presenters, and teachers and students from primary, secondary and tertiary institutions across the province, with a total of 20 teams shortlisted to participate in the on-site presentations.

The Qiu Shi Culture Presentation Team from ZJU Ocean College, led by instructors Xiaoqing DING and Kunhao ZHANG, Mengran ZHANG, Purui TU and Shuqing LI, closely adhered to the event's theme. They delved deeply into the contemporary significance of Kuo SHEN's three core principles – 'empiricism', 'practical application' and 'meticulous research' – and, using the 15th anniversary of ZJU Ocean College as a case study, recounted moving stories of how Zhejiang University's staff and students have contributed to the strategy of building a maritime power and the development of an innovative Zhejiang. The team's meticulously produced presentation video was successfully shortlisted. During the on-site presentation, the team delivered a group speech that, through an exhibition, initiated a scientific dialogue spanning millennia. By showcasing from multiple angles the mission and sense of responsibility of marine researchers in the new era—carrying forward the torch of science and boldly venturing into the deep blue—they won the recognition of both expert and public judges. The team also engaged in interactive exchanges with participating teams from various sectors, learning from one another and drawing on each other's strengths to improve.

Since being designated as a Zhejiang Provincial Education Base for the Spirit of Scientists in 2024, ZJU Ocean College has organised activities to disseminate the scientific spirit and promote science education, with the 'Seeking Truth' Cultural Outreach Team serving as the core driving force. This has enabled the cultural ethos of 'Seeking Truth and Innovation' and the scientific spirit to take root through widespread dissemination. To date, the College has delivered over 100 themed lectures on the spirit of scientists through the base, welcoming more than 3,000 visitors from both within and outside the university, reaching a diverse audience including staff, students, local community members and young students.
