报告人简介：

Zhenhua Huang is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Hawaii at Manoa(UHM). He received both his B.E. and M.E. degrees in Applied Mechanics from Tsinghua University, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Fluid Mechanics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior to joining UHM, he was an Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University, and a Principal Investigator at the Earth Observatory of Singapore. His research interests include ocean wave dynamics, hydrodynamics of coastal and offshore structures, near-shore waves and coastal sediment transport, two-phase flows, and tsunami hazard mitigation. He serves on the editorial boards of two journals and the steering committee of Asian and Pacific Coasts (APAC).

报告摘要：

Breakwaters are designed to provide safe harbourage or shore protection. In the past two decades, many new ideas have been explored, aiming at improving hydrodynamic performance and lowing construction costs. In this talk, I shall share our experience in exploring new ideas for improving the performance and functionality of several types of breakwaters, including perforated/slotted breakwaters and breakwaters integrated with wave energy converters.
