报告摘要:

       Coral reefs possess the highest biodiversity in the tropical oceans. Corals harbor a highly diverse microbial community in their tissue, skeleton and mucus layer. Competitive interactions between opportunistic coral pathogens and other commensal microbes affect coral health. We recently found that temperate phages played a major role in mediating colonization competition in the coral microbiota. Pathogen-encoded LodAB, which produces hydrogen peroxide, triggers the lytic cycle of prophage in coral symbiotic bacteria through LodAB-dependent prophage induction. We reveal that LodAB can be used by pathogens as an important weapon to gain a competitive advantage over lysogenic competitors when colonizing corals. The interplay of LodAB and inducible prophages may act as an important intrinsic force modulating changes in the microbiota in response to environmental fluctuations.

 

主讲人简介:

       王晓雪,中国科学院南海海洋研究所研究员,博士生导师,中国科学院大学岗位教授。2016年获国家基金委杰出青年基金项目资助,2018年入选科技创新领军人才。担任国家重点研发计划首席科学家,基金委基础科学中心核心骨干成员。主持基金委重点项目、重大研究计划课题等国家级海洋项目。长期从事海洋微生物生理与代谢机制研究,聚焦海洋微生物中的“暗物质”-毒素/抗毒素系统和原噬菌体,产出了一批具有国际影响力的原创科研成果。以通讯作者或第一作者身份在Nature Chemical BiologyNature Ecology & Evolution, Nature Communications, PNAS, Nucleic Acids Research, ISME J等权威期刊发表论文40余篇,发表论文他引约2000次。
